Background

About Us

Although Malaysia's geographical location is outside the Pacific Ring of Fire, the country is not immune to the impact of disasters that affect neighboring nations. Disasters occur at varying levels and magnitudes, leading to disruptions in medical infrastructure and public health. Such events create uncontrollable (chaotic) situations and disrupt the normal activities of society.

To address the challenges that may arise during a disaster, UMK has established a committee known as the Disaster Management Committee (JKPBA) of Universiti Malaysia Kelantan, which is responsible for overseeing, disseminating information, and acting as the frontline to provide as much relevant disaster information as possible, concerning both students and staff of UMK. This effort is crucial to ensure that the reports issued are consistent and accurate, facilitating rescue operations and aiding victims efficiently.

Furthermore, accurate reporting helps the university prepare and issue early warnings to all UMK residents, ensuring they are ready to face potential disasters.
